Tim Key. With A String Quartet. On A Boat.
Posted 10th August 2010 in Tim Key
We're pleased to announce we are releasing the debut album by Tim Key. This release will be in association with the mysterious organisation known as "The Invisible Dot". Key (chubby; poetical) is a writer, performer, drinker, ball-winning midfield-player and unsightly beast. Earlier this summer he took a string quartet onto a boat, and read out some of his poems over the top. This LP is the result and contains 30 poems, music and contributions from Key's friend Tom Basden (Lord). The LP contains download codes and is now available to preorder. For a full tracklisting and a glimpse of the artwork visit the RELEASE PAGE. For those of you who can't wait, Key will be launching the record at the Edinburgh Festival this month.

Here's something for you to do this weekend: ARC060 is a box containing loads of Angular label and band related prizes. It was buried by us at 3pm on 27th July 2010. It's contents are yours if you can find it.CLUE
To find the treasure you need to know the location of 3 colinear points: A, B & C.
Go to the centre of the circle at map ref N51° 27.561' W0° 1.457' (British Grid TQ 37357 75226) Face Midday, which is North.
Point A can be viewed aligned with 1 o'clock, and was labelled ARC001 by us on 21st June 2003.
Point B is the gap between the 2 objects that can be seen 60° clockwise from Point A, at 3 o'clock.
Point C is an Aesculus hippocastanum.
To find the treasure simply find the alignment which allows you to see point A through point B at all times. You have reached C when you can move away from A & B no further. The treasure is buried at your feet - approximately 2 feet from C on this exact line. If you extend the line a few metres beyond point C and an implement to aid your excavation can be found.
Simple! E-mail us if you find it at: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
Free TNPS Hologram SALEM remix and special Barbican gig
Posted 21st July 2010 in These New Puritans
These New Puritans forthcoming single 'Hologram', out 9th August 2010, is the third to be taken from the band's sophomore album 'Hidden' released earlier this year to huge critical acclaim. The band recently invited Traverse City/Chicago trio SALEM to remix the track, after Heather Marlatt from the group lent her vocals to the album 'Hidden'.SALEM are currently spearheading a new movement in their self named 'drag' music genre. With their debut album 'KING NIGHT' due for release in September there really isn’t a more perfect time for these two innovative bands to team up.
SALEM's remix takes the minimalist percussion and dreamy backing vocals of the original These New Puritans track and massages them into a murky choral infinity over which Jack Donoghue's chopped'n'screwed style draws you into their dead-eyed trance.

Cold Waves @ Number 1
Posted 8th July 2010 in Various Artists
Our recent compilation 'Cold Waves & Minimal Electronics Vol. 1' has topped a chart of this year's best compilations and re-issues put together by respected website The Quietus. They said "Despite the icy, clinical connotations of the term cold wave...this is a profoundly human album. Laden with brass these are organic creations that act as a kind of reappraisal for analogue synths and drum machines over digital music software...." To read the full review and see a rundown of the other top re-issues (including the excellent release Minimal Wape Tapes), CLICK HERE. Keep it cold, kids.
